DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi stressed that Syria’s approval of the Russian invitation to participate in an inter-Syrian dialogue without any outside interference is in line with Syria’s political discourse since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, based on that the political track is the only way to meet the aspirations of all Syrians.
In an interview with the Syrian Arab TV yesterday, Zoubi explained that Russian invitation is clear , without preconditions and reflects Russian keenness to solve the crisis in Syria, noting that national sovereignty and people are not subject to dialogue and that coordination between the Foreign Ministries in Syria and Russia is at a high-level and continuous on all titles and details.
The minister regretted what was stated by general coordinator of the Syrian opposition coordinating body for the Saudi al-Hayat newspaper that “ the Syrians and regional powers decide the future of the Syrian ruling system and President al-Assad “ noting no one can be convinced that Saudi Arabia , Qatar , Israel or Turkey as regional elements, can determine the fate of Syria and the fate of the regime and the fate of President al-Assad .
He continued that Syria’s participation in the consultative meeting stems from the interests of the national Syrian state ,stressing that the target of terrorist aggression is the national Syrian state , a fact that can be touched upon from different approaches.
“ It is not enough for Saudi Arabia to say in its statements and meetings that it is against terrorism and fight it at a time when other sides within the structure of the Saudi state support, finance and arm this terrorism, “ the minister said, noting the same situation with Qatar, Turkey and Israel , in terms of the exercise of the same method, pointing out that the policies of the Saud family throughout its history lacks political rationality and has been not keen to maintain the interests of its people , neither the interests of the Arab nation nor the neighboring countries.
He added that Egypt is an influential country in the Arab world, pointing that when Syria and Egypt are in better relations , the Arab nation is well and vice versa.
He also added that Syria has been historically keen to maintain best relations with Egypt and expressed hope Egypt to play a prominent role in all issues of the nation, hinting that for Egypt to have a role in addressing the crisis in Syria, it must have full and distinct relationships with the Syrian state, not only with specific groups of the opposition.
