A statement by the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces

Damascus- The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said Saturday that soldiers operating in southern cities of Daraa and Sweida carried out a redeployment and established a defensive circle and security cordon in these directions after terrorist members attacked the army’s checkpoints with the aim of preoccupying the armed forces, which began to regain control in the two governorates of Homs and Hama central provinces against terrorist organizations.

“The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces affirms that our armed forces are dealing with the course of events based on their concern for the security of the homeland and citizens, and will confront this terrorism with all firmness and strength,” the statement added.

In a similar statement, the General Command said that the army forces operating in the countryside of Hama and Homs are carrying out intense attacks with artillery and missiles on the locations of terrorists and their supply lines, and achieving direct hits among their ranks.

The joint Syrian-Russian warplanes also carried out concentrated strikes on terrorist gatherings in the northeastern countryside of Homs, eliminating dozens of them and destroying their vehicles and equipment.
