Joint statement of the foreign ministers of Syria, Iraq and Iran: “Threatening Syria’s security endangers the stability of the entire region”
Baghdad- The foreign ministers of Syria, Iraq and Iran stressed in a joint statement following their meeting in the Iraqi capital Baghdad today on the latest developments in Syria that “threatening Syria’s security poses a serious threat to the stability of the entire region, and there is no choice but to coordinate, cooperate and continue diplomatic consultations to eliminate all risks of escalation in the region.”
According to the statement published by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministers stressed during the meeting the need to mobilize all Arab, regional and international efforts to reach peaceful solutions to the challenges facing the region in general and Syria in particular. They condemned, at the same time, terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, as well as the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria, Lebanon and Gaza. The ministers stressed the need for “collective action to confront terrorism ”
According to the statement, “the meeting of the ministers also addressed the challenges facing the region in general and the recent security developments in Syria. The ministers shared views that focused on the seriousness of the events there and their sensitivity to all parties in the region, and the possibility of their expansion, which will pose a serious threat to the three countries and to the security of their peoples and the region as a whole.”
The statement pointed out that the ministers affirmrd the necessity of continuous consultation and coordination between the three countries to follow up on these developments and prepare for any developments in the coming days. It was also emphasized that Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity should be respected.”
