Israeli occupation’s destruction of Duma spring aims to deprive Palestinians of their water resources

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Jul.7, (ST)- The Israeli occupation forces’ attack on the water spring of Duma village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and the destruction of the pipes connected to it is another violation committed by Israel against the Palestinians and intended to deprive them of their water sources, today said he head of the Water Authority, Mazen Ghoneim.

He said in a statement on Thursday that the spring is one of the water resources that are considered a main source of water in that area, which is suffering from a shortage in water and relies on the spring to secure water for the people of the village.

Ghoneim said the Water Authority had rehabilitated the spring due to its importance for the residents in this area who are constantly attacked and harassed by settlers in order to force them to leave their lands.

He stressed that the repeated Israeli violations against Palestinian water resources and projects are only further evidence of the Israeli violations of international laws and an Israeli occupation that aims to deprive the Palestinians from their water resources and to prevent them from developing water projects to provide people with water in a safe manner.

The Israeli occupation forces broke into the Duma spring on Tuesday, accompanied by a bulldozer, and destroyed the water pipes and the surrounding fence, and damaged the recent restoration work, according to WAFA News Agency.
