Zarif Suggests More Active Role By EU Countries In Nuclear Talks (2)

Tehran– Foreign Minister Mohammad JavadZarif said the European Union could play a more active role in Iran’s nuclear talks with the 5+1.

He made the remarks in a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart Rui Machete in Tehran.

He termed the positive attitude of the European countries regarding Iran’s nuclear negotiations which opposes pressures and sanctions against Iran as positive.

He appreciated Portugal’s initiatives to boost relations with Iran and said cooperation between the two nations in various areas were quite apt to grow.

He highlighted many potential areas of cooperation between Tehran and Lisbon especially in private sector trade.

Machete referred to Iran as one the most important countries in the Middle East which could contribute in establishing peace and tranquility in the region.

He stressed Iran’s right for peaceful nuclear technology and hoped nuclear negotiations would culminate in positive results soon.

Comprehensive deal possible in absence of greedy policies

In the same context in London, Foreign Ministry Deputy for Europe and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi said a comprehensive nuclear agreement could be achieved only in the absence of greedy policies of the parties involved in nuclear talks with Iran.

In a meeting with Irish parliamentarian PattBerran in Dublin on Monday, he said such a nuclear deal is quite achievable.

Commenting on Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the 5+1, he stressed Iran’s determination to work out a comprehensive nuclear agreement.

He also outlined Iran’s foreign policy priorities which focus on enhancing ties with world countries including Ireland.

The two officials also explored the potential areas of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and stressed the need for further exchanges in medical industries, foodstuff industries, agriculture, petrochemical industries and information technology.

They also focused on ways to promote cultural and tourism cooperation.

Situation in Iraq and Syria as well as the threat of terrorism were among other topics discussed during the meeting.
