“Woman’s obsession” could go deep into many facets from her age to her beauty, her family her man, her career .Every woman has her own obsession…but knowing the source of it is what will free her from it!
Today’s Syria Times guest writer Forat Khaddour wrote a novel titled “woman’s obsession” , delving deep into the psyche of a broken woman looking for love in a lost world.
First we wanted to know more about the novel “woman’s obsession“
That’s why Writer khaddor tolds us :
“My novel, Women’s Obsessions, talks about social, psychological, and philosophical issues presented by its characters, including: the concept of freedom for women, freedom of opinion and the press in our society, friendship and love, while the events pass through the harsh days of war and are affected by its violence and injustice.”
You said that you like writing about societal and philosophical topics, what are the philosophical and societal topics that you most like to delve into and why?
“The topics that interest me most are the relationship between men and women, because this relationship is the basis of the formation and building of a human being, with its success, a healthy human being is built, and with its failure, we will find many complexes and societal diseases, and thus a failure in building this human being.”
Women’s Obsessions the title of the novel what does the title symbolize, like what’s the deeper meaning behind it?
The title of the novel symbolizes the fears of women in particular, everyone has their concerns, of course, but I write about women because I am a woman and I am able to penetrate their depths and understand their components.
The presented excerpt from the novel talks about the loss of passion and connection to the momentum of life, as if it were a kind of depression, in your opinion, what is the best way to deal with similar emotional states?
Losing passion is one of the biggest struggles that might hit us, as we grow old and age passes without us noticing it due to the war and living conditions that forcefully impose themselves on our way of life. The passage of life or time for women is a very frightening factor, and here was my call, through my heroines, to awareness and the pursuit of knowledge and self-understanding, encouraging woman to enjoy a strong, reconciled personality capable of accepting life with all its ups and downs and breaking free from accumulated restrictions in a rational manner.
What is your own philosophy in life, and do you have a favorite piece of wisdom that inspires you in life?
My philosophy has always been peace, reconciliation with oneself, acceptance of it, so that it becomes able to receive life easily and cope with it peacefully.
There are many sayings about the life that I love, which are a summary of previous experiences that summarize many of life’s concepts for us, including:” Weight loss is the biggest example that some losses are gains”, “Live your spontaneity and leave people the sin of suspicion, for you will have your reward and people will have the sin of it” , finally” Fear God wherever you are”.
What do you most wish existed in Syria regarding books and writing that does not exist yet?
We have seen many programs to discover the talents of singing, dancing, and other arts, I wish that similar programs were created to search for the literary talents of this rising generation.
At the end of this interview I would love to know what your favorite book is the one that you would recommend to others to read and why?
As for my favorite book, I will quote here from my novel: “In every novel there is something that we learn and opens up a new horizon for us that expands the circle of knowledge and questions, especially if the reader is looking for diverse answers to many questions on his mind.”
Writers are gatekeepers of the worlds of mental stimulation and expansion; it’s always nice to go for a talk with them as they bring light for a new way of viewing life and reality, and today writer Forat Khaddour embodied that for us !
