Wounded army personnel: “Jareeh Al-Watan Sports Games lift our spirits, show our ability to prove ourselves”
Participants in the First Jareeh Al-Watan (the Wounded of the Homeland) Sports Games, have stressed that this competition contributes to raising their spirits and show their ability to prove their presence and effectiveness in different domains despite their injuries.
Some of the wounded sportsmen talks to SANA about the importance of these games.
Tarek Naser Al-Deik, said that participating in these competitions is a message stressing that despite their wounds and pains, the wounded personnel are full of life, energy and vitality, and that their inability to be in the battlefields doesn’t mean that they are unable to prove themselves in various fields of life, such as sports, art and others.
Sami Iskandar, another wounded personnel, said he came to encourage his fellow wounded soldiers in the sports they chose according to their health conditions and physical abilities. He affirmed the positive impacts of such mass activities on the physical and psychological condition of the wounded people as they prove their ability to do the impossible to be effective in their society.
The wounded Weam Ibrahim, from the “Wounded Army Choir”, said “We are here to support our friends and deliver a message that life cannot stop when we are injured as long as we have strong will and determination and we are optimistic that there is always something beautiful awaiting us.”
The wounded Sidqi Ahmad stressed that such activities lift the spirits of the wounded personnel and affirm the national cohesion that distinguishes the Syrian people. He highly appreciated the great care accorded to the wounded army personnel by President Bashar Al-Assad and First Lady, Mrs. Asma Al-Assad to help them restore normal life.
The “Jareeh Al-Watan” Sports Games event was opened on Friday At Al-Assad Sports City in Lattakia in the presence of First Lady, Mrs. Asma Al-Assad.
The participants in these sports games have underwent quality training for a month and a half under the supervision of specialized coaches from the General Sports Federation, with the aim of developing their skills and stimulating their unlimited capabilities to enter competitions regardless of what hinders their ambitions, because their first enemy is disability and their ultimate goal is to challenge their injury.
