Workshop on reality of micro and small projects discusses enhancing financing framework

The workshop on “The reality of the financing market for micro and small projects and prospects for its development” continues its work for the second day, at Sham Hotel in Damascus.

The workshop is held by the Central Bank of Syria in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade.  The participants in the workshop will discuss several axes related to the active and stimulating financing framework for the development of micro and small projects, the government’s policy towards these projects in Syria, and the future vision to enhance financing paths for micro and small projects, through working groups and open dialogue.

The workshop, which was launched on Saturday in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Al-Jalali, aims to identify the reality of the microfinance market in Syria, come up with recommendations that contribute to developing its services, shed light on the policies of financing micro and small projects, the measures taken by the government to implement them, the role played by the Central Bank of Syria in facilitating project owners’ access to the necessary funding sources from the banking sector, and the problems facing the provision of financing services to the target groups.
