WHO: The Indian version of the mutated Covid is observed in at least 17 countries

Geneva (ST): The World Health Organization announced today that the Indian variant of the mutated Covid 19, which is suspected to be responsible for plunging India into a major health crisis, has been detected in at least 17 countries.

WHO  said in a statement reported by AFP that the version (B617.1), known more widely as the Indian variant, has been detected in at least 17 countries, and the Indian mutated version of the virus has been detected in recent days in several European countries, such as Belgium, Switzerland, Greece and Italy.

India became the epicenter of the pandemic a few days ago with the spread of the Indian mutated version, which is the most populous country after China, and is setting new daily records in terms of infections.

India recorded 352,991 new infections in one day yesterday, the highest death toll in the world, in addition to 2,812 deaths, the highest national toll.

India is the fourth most affected country in the world in terms of deaths, with more than 192,000 deaths.
