Geneva (ST): The World Health Organization announced that it continues to receive dozens of reports of severe hepatitis infections in children, without knowing the causes, and estimated the number of more than 230 cases around the world.
WHO spokesman Tarik Yasarevich told AFP that the number of cases reported to the Organization until the first of this May has reached at least 228 in 20 countries,” noting that more than 50 other cases are still under investigation.
Yasarevich added, “Reports about these cases were received from four regional offices affiliated with the Organization,” pointing out that the cause of these infections was not yet known, which had the largest share in Europe, especially Britain.
