WHO: Half a million deaths from corona in the world since the discovery of the mutant Omicron

Geneva (ST): The World Health Organization has announced that half a million deaths from Covid-19 have been recorded since the discovery of the Omicron mutant from the Corona virus, describing this outcome as tragic.

AFP quoted the director of accident management at the organization, Abdi Mahmoud, as saying in statements: “130 million injuries and 500 thousand deaths have been recorded in the world since the announcement of a worrying mutant Omicron last November.” It is surprising that such a number of deaths occurred in the era of effective vaccines.

Mahmoud pointed out that it is not yet known whether infection with PA1 and PA2 strains of the Omicron is possible at the same time, noting that studies are continuing in this regard.
