Wedding Ring

(ST) – Why the ring of the engagement is worn in the right hand and after marriage in the left one? The engagement ring is an ancient Pharaonic traditions, and the first to follow this tradition were the ancient Egyptians, and the reason for this is that the money you were dealing with was in the form of gold rings, and to put one of these rings in a the bride’s finger shows that the groom has put all his money and all his possessions at her disposal!!

 In the era of the Romans, the couple were wearing a gasket of flowers on their heads, and this is an evidence of their connection, and then the gasket turned to a colored thread rolled on the little finger.

  According to Greeks, the girl’s hand was placed in the hand of the boy enrolled with a metal chain when they come out of her father’s house, then the bridegroom rides his horse and the bride moves behind him until they reach to their new home!!

 About the story of the ring in the right hand refers that the right is the one that we take an oath and in the case of an engagement, every one of the two parties here to commit one anorther by oath party that they will engage forever.

 The tradition of placing the ring on the fourth finger of the left hand in marriage has a connection extends from the finger and connects directly to the heart, known as the Vein of Love. The circular shape refers to the time of the Romanian Empire, where the ring was then made of steel to give a symbol of toughness and durability, and also the lack of gold in that era, and the circular shape represents continuity and stability of its formulation.

 It has been said that the first models that have shaped wedding ring was made from two parts relate to by a node, the man provides to his next bride half of the ring and reserves the second half, and at the completion of the ceremony  the two pieces are gathered to complete the bride’s wedding ring.

 For engraving dates and oathes of the couples, statements and phrases emerged in the sixteenth century, for example, “I love you” and “together forever” and initials of the names of the couple, and this tradition is still maintaining its position to this day. Inlaying of diamonds in some rings has private signs, as the diamond stone is invincible and symbolizes eternal love, and in some designs the ring is studded with three diamonds symbolizing the past, present and future.
