Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad discussed with Sridharan Madhusudan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the accompanying delegation ways to enhance bilateral relations in all fields, particularly economy, health and culture.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Mikdad stressed the depth of bilateral relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of India, the importance of seeking to develop and strengthen them and the need to ensure that meetings of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation between the two sides are held as soon as possible.
Al-Mikdad thanked India for its supportive stances on Syria during the earthquake disaster, noting the dangers of unilateral economic sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union on Syria which have affected various aspects of life of the Syrian people and increased their suffering.
Sridharan stressed that the Indian delegation’s visit to Syria and its meetings with several Syrian officials aim at getting acqainted with all issues related to bilateral cooperation between Syria and India.
The visit also aims at exploring other areas of cooperation to serve the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples, Sridharan said, reiterating India’s support for Syria and the Syrian people, particularly in their war on terrorism.
