Wathiqah Watan Foundation Participates in the 10th Oral History Week in China

Beijing (ST) – Wathiqa Watan Foundation participated in the 10th Oral History Week organized annually by the Oral History Research Center at the Communication University of China.

The week’s activities, in which Dr. Nermin Nafra and Dr. Mayassa Deeb participated from Wathiqa Watan Foundation, included screening films based on oral history and displaying posters about oral history projects throughout the conference period. The foundation had four participations in it; a poster specific to the foundation, a poster about the war projects on Syria, a poster about the Syrian cultural heritage projects, and a poster about the biography of life.

The events also included lectures on oral history, during which the delegation representing the foundation explained the role of the Wathiqat Watan Foundation in the field of oral history. As for the conference held on the last day, the delegation gave an opening speech entitled “History and Status of Oral History in Syria and the Arab Region”.

At the end of the conference, the delegation representing the foundation gave a closing speech in which it explained the nature of the Syrian-Chinese relationship and the similarities between the two civilizations. In turn, Dr. Lin Hui praised the oral history conference held in Amman and its importance in highlighting the Arab role in oral history.

Hui also praised the role of Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Wathiqat Watan Foundation, in deepening communication with the East, especially China, and showing what it has in this field.

She stressed the need for continued communication between the Wathiqat Watan Foundation and the Oral History Center in the future and the need for cooperation between them in various projects.

At the end of the conference, the delegation representing the Wathiqat Watan Foundation was honored.
