Waiting for Godot

Hiwar Group for theater arts has presented recently at al-Sweida Educational Theater the famous play waiting for Godot .

The play  which was presented for three days produced by Ziad Kurbaj and performed by four artists

-Wiliam Hadi (Vladimir)

-Hala Ward (Pozo)

-katrin Olba (Estragon and the boy)

-Hadi Jaber (Luky)

In a statement to the Syria times reporter in Sweida the producer Ziad Kurbaj said “we in Syria are currently passing through a real ordeal due to this we are in a  pressing  need for hope and this play is what we need, asserting the play ‘s role in leading man to the way of salvation .

He also added that the play is an example to be followed regarding mans insistence to live . It is a clear invitation to  abide by hope and patience to overcome all obstacles that are hindering  man from living in peace and happiness .

“in the play the characters spend all their time by waiting .They were waiting for Godot who  for them is a symbol of peace, happiness, love and salvations. We in Syria and after four years of bloody war are in need for  hope . we are in need for abiding by our people’s  love for life as a first step to overcome our  homelands painful ordeal . ” the producer reiterated , adding the play came as a scream to remind our people that we are as Syrians must struggle to defend our homeland .

The producer also  in  his statement gave a briefing on the play’s  role in making a qualitative move in the history of theater through its philosophical themes which are carrying further than one  interpretation .

Its note worthy that Hewar Group presented further than one international work , including Brains Washing and many works of the famous English author  Shakespeare .

The work which was performed  under the patronage of the Education Ministry was attended by many producers, Director of the National theater Wajeh Qasyyah and many others related  parties .
