Venezuela hopes to join BRICS

CARACAS, JUN, (ST)-Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto  expressed hope for his country to join BRICS as a full member at the next summit in 2024, which is making great and responsible efforts to build a new world order.

Russia Today website quoted Pinto as saying during talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, on the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in the city of Nizhny Novgorod: “On behalf of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, I thank you for inviting us to work as friends of the BRICS group today, and we consider it an opportunity to announce Venezuela’s will to join this important bloc, which is making great efforts to create a new world order based on the desire for the well-being of our peoples.”

Lavrov announced yesterday that the number of those wishing to cooperate with BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is increasing.
