United Nations: The world needs more than $46 billion in humanitarian aid next year

Geneva, (ST) – The United Nations has warned of a bleak humanitarian situation for the world in 2024, noting that 180.5 million people are in dire need of aid.

The organization reported, according to AP, that it needs $46.4 billion next year to provide this aid. It pointed out that conflicts, emergency climate conditions, and the decline of economies are “wreaking havoc” on the conditions of members of vulnerable groups.

She stressed that failure to provide the necessary funding may lead those people who need assistance to pay the price “with their lives.”
