Occupied Al-Quds (ST) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) affirmed that more than 50 thousand children in the Gaza Strip need treatment from acute malnutrition as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression.
UNRWA stated on its X platform that: “The people of Gaza are facing “desperate levels of hunger” as restrictions on aid persist”, adding that its teams are working tirelessly to deliver aid to families, but described the situation as catastrophic.
For his part, the spokesman for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), James Elder, affirmed that the situation in Gaza is getting worse for children day after day, amid the intensifying heat and the accumulation of families in tents on top of the sand.
He noted that it is not normal for the children of the Strip to live in constant terror due to the Israeli bombing.
“There are 3 thousand children to whom we were providing emergency food aid, and now we do not know their whereabouts”, he said, adding that with the continued restrictions on the entry of aid, after more than 250 days of war on Gaza, the people of Gaza are facing extreme difficulties in obtaining food.
UNICEF warned two days ago that about 3 thousand children suffering from malnutrition are at risk of death because they are denied the necessary treatment as a result of the Israeli aggression.
The humanitarian conditions and suffering of Palestinians in the stricken Gaza Strip are worsening as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression, the continuation of the blockade, the cessation of the flow of humanitarian and relief aid and medical supplies, and the deprivation of thousands of sick and injured people from receiving treatment.
