Underway Investment Projects at SP 8 billion

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Despite pressures and sanctions that targeted the country’s  institutions and businessmen, the Syrian Investment Commission SIC  licensed during the first quarter of 2013, eight  projects in the industrial sector , at an estimated cost of $ 7 billion and 964 million Syrian pounds (SP) .

SIC chairperson Hala Ghazal said that  two of these projects  were in Quneitra and one project in each of the provinces of Sweida,  Latakia, Homs, Damascus , Rural Damascus and Tartous.

Ghazal added that cost of machinery, plant ,equipment and transport services of the licensed projects amounted to SP 7 . 240 billion.

As for   industrial and  agricultural projects under implementation, Ghazal said that only one industrial project is  under implementation at a total cost of SP 27 . 500 million .

IN 2012, SIC licensed  45 investment projects at an estimated cost of  SP 37 . 604 . 149, including 26 projects in the industrial sector and nine projects in  Raqqa  , while 10 projects are underway  and other 11 projects  are already executed.
