Under the patronage of President al-Assad, the Internal Security Forces celebrate their 77th anniversary

Under the patronage of President Bashar al-Assad, the Ministry of Interior commemorated today the 77th anniversary of the Internal Security Forces’ Day, in commemoration of the martyrdom of the Parliament’s police and gendarmerie garrison at the hands of French colonialism on May 29, 1945. 

The Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad al-Rahmoun, delivered a speech during the ceremony in which he conveyed the congratulations, love and appreciation of President al-Assad on this glorious day to the internal security forces

 

Major General Al-Rahmoun reviewed the heroic saga of the Internal Security Forces and Parliament’s protectors from the police and gendarmerie at the time, who were martyred in defense of Parliament against the French colonizer. 

He said“ History repeats itself in terms of the contents, even if the formula and the events differ, the Syrians realize that what they have been subjected to in terms of terrorism, killing, destruction and an unjust economic siege is a continuation of colonial ambitions aimed at tearing apart their homeland.” 

For his part, Major General Muhammad Al-Fauri, Director of the Department of Guidance in the Ministry, said: The Internal Security Forces Day was a significant day in the history of the Syrians.” 

The celebration included honoring a number of the grandchildren of the martyrs of the twenty-ninth of May, the families of the martyrs of duty and the homeland, and a number of wounded Internal Security Forces and retired police officers. 

The ceremony was attended by the Ministers of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, the State for People’s Assembly Affairs, Abdullah Abdullah, and the State for the Development of the Southern Region, DialaBarakat, the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, and the Damascus Countryside, Engineer Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, and a number of members of the People’s Assembly. 

On this occasion, Minister Rahmon and Internal Security Forces officers visited the tomb of the martyrs in the Dahdah cemetery in Damascus and the Martyrs’ Hall in the People’s Assembly(parilament ).

In the People’s Assembly, minister al-Rahmounmet with Parliament Speaker HammoudaSabbagh, who emphasized the greatness and symbolism of the occasion in the lives of the Syrians
