LATTAKIA, (ST)-Under the Directives of President Bashar Al-Assad, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi honored 800 families of Syrian Arab army’s martyrs and wounded personnel during an honoring ceremony held at the Assad House for Culture in Lattakia.
The ceremony coincided with the country’s celebrations of the late President Hafez Al-Assad-led Correction Movement.
In his speech, the premier hailed the sacrifices of the martyrs and the wounded to preserve the dignity, safety and independence of the homeland.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to implement its pledges towards the martyrs and to provide assistance to the families of the martyrs and the wounded personnel, particularly those with complete disability.
Al-Halqi reiterated Syria’s determination to press ahead with its war on takfiri terrorism and to cooperate with all sincere international efforts to combat terrorism on the basis of protecting innocent civilians and respecting the state’s national sovereignty.
He pointed out that the Correction Movement, launched in 1970, prepared the ground for the state of stability Syria enjoyed over the past decades. It marked the beginning of a prosperous era of great achievements and all-out development which helped Syria become a regional power able to defend the just causes of the Arab nation.
“These achievements have been consolidated and integrated by the package of comprehensive reforms made under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad in the social, economic and political domains,” al-Halqi said.
