New York- The “Summit of Future” began on Sunday at the United Nations headquarters in New York with the participation of the Syrian Arab Republic, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
“Summit of Future” represents an important opportunity for making decisions to pave the way for global peace and prosperity, and to make international institutions more legitimate, effective and appropriate for today and tomorrow’s world.
The summit was preceded by negotiations that lasted for 18 days, these negotiations on the Charter for the Future highlighted differences in visions and priorities between developed and developing countries on fundamental issues, including sustainable development, fulfilling the commitment to provide official relief assistance to ensure that no country is left behind, implementing the 2030 relief goals, debt crisis and maintaining international peace and security and other issues.
Developing countries, represented by the Group of 77 (G77) ,China and the Group of Like-Minded Countries succeeded in making the Charter includes important gains from agreement by states to remove all obstacles of sustainable development, refrain from economic coercion, as well as urging countries not to impose unilateral coercive measures that impede international law and the principles of the Charter.
