U.S. and Its Allies’ Wrong Polices in the Region Helped Terrorist Organizations Strengthen Abilities: Boroujerdi

TEHRAN, (ST)-Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi has stressed that the United States and its allies’ wrong policies in the region have helped terrorist organizations strengthen their abilities.

During his meeting in Tehran on Saturday with Hussein Ragheb al-Hussein, member of the Syrian People’s Assembly (PA) and Deputy Head of the PA’s National Reconciliation Committee, Boroujerdi said “the US-led anti-ISIS coalition didn’t weaken the terrorist organizations; rather it helped them strengthen their abilities. In addition, the international community did nothing to put an end to the terrorists’ crimes in Syria.”

The Iranian official affirmed the need to enhance security and stability in the region, clarifying that the Iranian government and parliament provide all possible support to maintain peace and stability in Syria and to eliminate terrorist takfiri groups in the country and the entire region.

He regretted the continuity of the siege imposed by the terrorists on some Syrian areas including Kafraya and al-Fou’a in Idleb countryside.

On his part, the Syrian MP said the locals of al-Fou’a and Kafraya are suffering difficult humanitarian situation, particularly because of the terrorists’ siege and atrocities.

Al-Hussein asserted that the Syrian people and leadership are determined to defeat terrorism to clear Syria from this plague which poses serious threat to the region and the entire world. He thanked the Iranian leadership, government and people for their support to the Syrian people.

He reiterated that parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Syria consolidates the steadfastness of the Syrian people who have been suffering terrorism atrocities over the past five years.

In the same context, the Syrian MP met with the official in charge of the Syrian economic file at the Iranian Presidency and talked with him about the terrorists’ siege on Kafraya and al-Fou’a towns and about ways to break this siege. Both sides also talked about the social and economic situation in Syria and about methods of supporting elements of the Syrian people’s steadfastness.
