Turkish-backed terrorists continue to carry out illegal archeological excavations under the supervision of Turkish intelligence

The mercenaries of the Turkish occupation, under the direct supervision of the Turkish intelligence, continue to carry out illegal archeological excavations in the vicinity of the occupied city of Afrin, north of Aleppo. These excavations are part of the crimes of Turkish occupation’s mercenaries against the Syrian cultural heritage.

According to local sources, the terrorists of the so-called “National Army”, which is affiliated to the Turkish occupation, have carried out digging and soil dredging operations in Tal Aboush archeological site, to the north of Afrin city, in search for antiquities and archeological findings. The mercenaries used modern equipment provided to them by the Turkish occupation which directly supervises these operations.

The sources said that these systematic excavations by the Turkish-backed terrorists are run by the Turkish intelligence. The terrorists aim at looting the antiquities from Afrin and selling them to Turkish traders at low prices, while the Turkish occupation forces seek to control and steal these artifacts to obliterate their Syrian identity and undermine the history of this area.

During the past years of the terrorist war on Syria, the Turkish-backed terrorists, under the supervision of Turkish, American and French experts, carried out illegal archeological excavations and looted many artifacts with the aim of vandalizing and undermining the Syrian cultural heritage and falsifying the history of the region. These aggressive acts amount to a war crime added to the many crimes being committed against the Syrian people, history and civilization.
