The Union of Levant Scholars condemns an extremist attack on the Holy Quran, with the approval of the Swedish government

Damascus (ST): The Union of Scholars of the Levant denounced the disgraceful act of insulting the Holy Qur’an by an extremist on the first days of Eid al-Adha, and the attempt to burn a copy of it with the permission and approval of the Swedish government.

In a statement,  the Union considered that committing this act on the morning of the Muslim holiday and repeating it in previous times in full view of the authorities there, is a flagrant violation of international norms and traditions, and a clear intention to stir up the feelings of Muslims in the world.

The statement pointed out that the claimants of freedom and modern liberalism promote the dissolution of religions, values, principles, morals, customs and traditions, and renew every day their hostility to divine laws and religions through various methods, pointing out that the West, which commits crimes that promote the destruction of the family, adds today to its record of crimes another crime, which is violation of freedom of belief and sacrilege.
