The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, warned today of the serious danger to archaeological sites in the cities of Baalbek and Tyre in eastern and southern Lebanon, as a result of intensive Israeli airstrikes.
“Lebanon’s cultural heritage must not become another victim of this devastating war,” Plasschaert said in a post on the X platform, warning that ancient Lebanese cities steeped in history are in grave danger of being destroyed by bombing. Amal Farhat
