The Syrian Embassy in Cyprus organizes an event entitled “Despite Terrorism, Syria will Remain the Cradle of Civilizations”
The Syrian Embassy in Cyprus organized a cultural event at the Cultural Center in Nicosia entitled “Despite Terrorism, Syria Will Remain the Cradle of Civilizations,” which included a reception and a photo exhibition about Syria.
During the event, the Syrian film “The Oath of Cyriac” was screened. The film won more than 20 awards at international festivals and is shown for the first time outside Syria. The film talks about the intentional sabotage that the city of Aleppo was subjected to by terrorists, in addition to the film “Blood of the Palms,” which is based on a true story about the Syrian Arab Army liberating the land and expelling terrorism.
In a welcoming speech at the beginning of the event, the head of the mission, Ammar Awad, stressed that these films are taken from real events of Syrian heroes who defended the identity and memory of the Syrian people in the face of terrorism that affected the human heritage in the city of Aleppo, stressing that the screening of the two films represents an opportunity to inform the Cypriot and European people of a certain truth that happened at the beginning of the terrorist and the economic war on Syria.
Awad pointed to the efforts made by the Syrian government to confront all challenges, especially the occupation and the illegal presence of the American and Turkish forces on the Syrian territory, in addition to the continued fight by Syria against terrorism so as to mitigate the disastrous effects of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people by Western countries.
The event was attended by ambassadors, heads of missions of Arab and foreign countries, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Orthodox and Armenian churches in Cyprus, representatives of a number of parties, labor unions, as well as Cypriot non-governmental organizations, in addition to a large crowd of members of the Syrian community in Cyprus.
