The Supreme Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine: The Occupation’s Attack on the Ibrahimi Mosque is a Crime That Violates International Law
The Supreme Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine condemned the blatant attack by the Israeli occupation forces yesterday on the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, West Bank, pointing out that it comes in the context of the occupation’s policies and systematic settlement measures to Judaize Christian and Islamic holy sites, primarily the Al-Aqsa Holy Mosque.
The committee stressed in a statement reported by WAFA Media that this crime violates international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, which considers Hebron an occupied Palestinian city, and violates the decision of UNESCO to include the Old City and the Ibrahimi Mosque on the World Heritage List in danger because of the Israeli occupation settlement policies.
The committee called on the churches of the world and the relevant international institutions to force the occupation government to cancel its illegal measures against the Ibrahimi Mosque and provide international protection for it and all Islamic and Christian holy sites, which are being subjected to distortion of their identity, history and religious status. This is considered a war crime for which the occupation must be held accountable.
