The statements of US officials should be scrutinized, says Zakharova

Moscow , (ST) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed the importance of scrutinizing statements made by US officials, because some of them contradict official decisions taken.

Commenting on a statement by the US ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas Greenfield, about Washington supplying Kiev with more weapons, Zakharova said in an interview with Radio Sputnik. “The statements of officials in the current US administration now need to be re-audited at the official level and often contradict the decisions taken.”

Zakharova said that, “I think that we have encountered so many absurd and unbalanced statements by officials in the current US administration that everything now needs to be re-examined at the official level and search for official answers as we see a torrent of these statements. “Some of statements are official and some are nothing but a political maneuver to support this or that action,” she added

The US ambassador to the United Nations said earlier that the United States would provide Ukraine with weapons in order to protect its territory, but not to launch strikes against Russia.
