The National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus hosted a solo exhibition by visual artist Saleh Kheder
The exhibition includes 23 paintings from different sizes inspired by abstract art.These paintings reflect the feelings and sensations of the artist who introduces paper and earthy colors to embody visual images capable of drawing the attention of the recipient.
Visual artist Nidaa Al-Droubi expressed her admiration for the exhibition, which was distinguished by high techniques and harmonious and graduated colors through which the artist was able to express his feelings.
She told Syriatimes that the paintings of artist Saleh Al-Kheder in this exhibition are distinguished. He used, earthy colors and the colors grey, green, and yellow.
“He used various techniques in his drawings. He remind us of French artists from the abstract and expressionist school” she said.
“His paintings depicts the old mud houses and waterwheels of Hama, but in a modern way.He was able to paint on a large canvas and this is an advantage for the artist” she added.
Director of the National Center for Visual Arts, Ghiath Al-Akhras, pointed out that Al-Kheder’s paintings presented an art and style different from other artists who draws with a realistic method.
Artist Saleh painted difficult art .He used layers of paper stacked on top of each other, which gave the painting beauty.
Artist Saleh Al-Kheder told Syriatimes that he painted a new visual experience that differed from his previous exhibitions. He used paper that is made of trees or mud. It carries the memory of nature for him .
He sees that abstract art as a visual text that conveys a direct message because the painting is open to the recipient, so every person sees it according to his inventory, images, and ideas.
Artist Saleh used earthy and gray colors close to the color of the earth and the environment.He painted with the technique of “Collage” where he turned paper into paste and applied it to the surface of the painting.
