The Permanent Committee for Arab Media emphasizes the centrality of the Palestinian issue and documenting the crimes of the Israeli occupation

The participants in the 100th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media in the Libyan capital Tripoli reaffirmed the previous resolutions related to the Palestinian issue and of  keeping it central, through media awareness programs in accordance with a continuous Arab media policy, praising the efforts of the Arab media in covering the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The participants recommended inviting the various Arab media to highlight the positions in support of the Palestinian people, support the resilience of the people of Jerusalem City and preserve their Arab, Islamic and Christian identity and expose the violations of the occupation. They further recommended that the Arab League’s missions abroad be mandated to address the various media in those countries to explain Israel’s violations in the occupied Arab territories.

They called on the Arab media to continue exposing and documenting the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces, which led to the martyrdom and injury of thousands of Palestinian people, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure.

The participants also called on the State of Palestine to provide the Secretariat-General with all documents supporting its proposal to defend Palestinian content on social media platforms and to urge Member States to participate actively in the eighth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award.

The participants stressed the need to follow up the implementation of the Arab media map for Sustainable Development 2030 and approve the draft code of conduct on the organization of the website of the Arab Committee for electronic media. They also stressed the importance of monitoring and studying electronic games that incite violence and terrorism.

They pointed to the importance of holding a scientific forum on media education and the possibility of including it in the school curricula to develop an Arab strategic plan for media education.

Participants welcomed the establishment of an Arab information committee in the field of the environment to diagnose the Arab environmental situation and develop a unified Arab plan to deal with environmental issues, as well as the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence in the Arab media.
