The people’s Assembly Condemns Washington’s decision to Keep the Republic of Cuba on the US List of Terrorism Sponsors
The People’s Assembly condemned the announcement by the U.S. State Department to keep the Republic of Cuba on the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, expressing its solidarity with the Council of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba and the friendly Cuban people against this unjust decision.
The Council said in a statement that SANA received a copy of yesterday: “successive U.S. administrations in Washington continue to practice their aggressive approach by imposing sanctions on States and peoples that do not pursue their authoritarian and domineering policies, that reject their dictates and schemes to impose their domination, and that defend their freedom, sovereignty and dignity.
“The people’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic condemns and deplores the announcement by the U.S. State Department to keep the Republic of Cuba on the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, and to remove it only from the list of countries that do not cooperate with U.S. efforts to eliminate terrorism completely,” the council added.
“This dangerous announcement will only lead to an increase and escalation of tension on the international arena, as it clearly shows the intransigence of the United States of America to follow a policy of double standards in dealing with countries and peoples according to their moods and interests,” the council added.
The council pointed to the United States ‘ disregard for its illegal presence and occupation of parts of the Syrian territory and its continued stealing and plundering the wealth of the Syrian people, as well as its forgetfulness of the brutal daily massacres committed by the Zionist “Israeli” occupation forces against the people of Palestine in general and Gaza in particular for months, turning a blind eye to Israel’s violations and its treacherous crimes towards the Syrian territory.
The council affirmed its full confidence that the steadfast people of Cuba, who have been resisting the unjust United States embargo for more than half a century, are capable of thwarting all American plans, calling on all national councils and parliaments, regional and international parliamentary federations and organizations to condemn the decision, to stand by the oppressed peoples and to restore normalcy so that they can live in peace, security and stability.
