The People’s Assembly… Demands to Control Prices and Allocate Funds to Compensate Those Affected by Terrorism

The People’s Assembly held today Thursday the thirty-first and final session for the third legislative term, headed by Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Assembly.

In a speech at the beginning of the session, Sabbagh commended on the legislative decrees that increased the salaries and wages of state workers in addition to the pensions for the military and civilian personnel, which will contribute to improving the living conditions of citizens and meeting their requirements.

Speaker Sabbagh indicated that the third quarter of 2021 witnessed the approval of many decrees and draft laws, as well as the study and completion of the rest of the projects of the permanent committees, noting the tireless work and intense efforts made by the members of the Council who participated in sessions, committees and various activities in order to address the citizens’ concerns that are related to living means and services.

The Minister of State for People’s Assembly Affairs, Abdullah Abdullah, gave a presentation on a summary of the topics discussed and approved by the Council of Ministers in its previous session related to service and living issues.

In their interventions, the Assembly members demanded to continue working to control prices, reduce prices, fight corruption, improve the reality of services in various regions, especially with regard to night lighting of streets, and allocate additional funds or transfers in the 2022 budget to provide compensation to citizens whose properties have been damaged by terrorism.

The Assembly members called for an increase in the number of internal transport buses to reduce traffic congestion, serve the countryside far from city centers, follow up on the implementation of the agricultural plan in terms of securing fertilizers, seeds and fuel for farmers, expedite the sorting of graduate engineers, and appoint those successful in contests in jobs close to their areas of residence.

The members stressed the need to reduce the hours of electrical rationing in all governorates and to speed up the delivery of the allocated quantities of heating fuel to families, especially to the families of the martyrs and the war-wounded, and to pay more attention to the living situation in the liberated areas of Idlib governorate, providing them with internal transport buses and rehabilitating their infrastructure.
