“The joy of homeland through the eyes of children” forum held in Lattakia

The Lattakia  branch of the  Fine Artists Union , in cooperation with Lattakia Governorate and the Directorate of Culture there recently held “The Joy of homeland through the Children’s Eyes” forum at the National Museum in the province.

During the three –day forum , 60 paintings by 20 boys and girls were displayed in a collective art exhibition full of colors and creativity.

The children’s paintings embodied a  green homeland, colorful cities, children playing under a sky decorated with the Syrian flag, for which the children have assigned a place in most of their works and many colorful stories.

Head of the Fine Arts Union’s  branch in Lattakia Fareed Reslan , said in a statement to  Syria Times e-newspaper: “The forum, which was  launched by the General Union of Fine Artists in many governorates,  is the first of its kind for children under 12 years old.”

He stressed that it was held  under the supervision of a group of plastic artists, who helped stimulate the imagination of children through many exhibitions , Interactive activities  in addition to organizing an introductory tour of the museum, which was chosen by the forum management due to the beauty and charm of its nature and its historical and archaeological richness.

Reslan pointed out that the forum was keen to organize  an exhibition of children’s drawings and give certificates of appreciation to the participants with the aim of creating a positive relationship between the child and art.

The plastic artist Bassam Nasser, one of the supervisors of  the forum, said: “Art is supposed to constitute a daily need for the child, especially under  the difficult conditions that our children lived through during the harsh years of war on Syria.”

He stressed the need to hold permanent  activities and forums that help children  overcome their  negative energies and contribute to the development of their  personality.

The child Limar Ba’ajano  drew a colorful city in the form of a tree and called it the “Tree of Life”, through which she expressed  her city and homeland, which will remain colorful and vibrant.

Diana Haidar ‘s paintings focused on drawing  the national flag and the Syrian soldier as they are the symbol of safety and security, while Naya Shabani painted children playing and carrying the flag of their country, expressing their  joy and pride.

The child Hamza Al-Masry painted a beautiful green nature and sunset on  the sea, in an expression of the beauty of his city and homeland, Syria.
