The Indian Embassy organizes ‘Yoga For Health’ event in Damascus Citadel

On June 21st, the Indian Embassy in Damascus organized an event entitled “Yoga for Health” to commemorate the International Day of Yoga.

The Ambassador of India, Dr. Hafez Rahman, indicated in a speech during the event that the great interest of Syrians in the culture of yoga.

The Indian ambassador expressed his thanks to Syria for providing the opportunity to spread the  culture of yoga  among the Syrian people.

 The yoga instructor, Ryam Al-Shadaydah, who participated in organizing the event, said that the team of yoga trainers toured the governorates of Sweida, Homs and Hama, and   Damascus.

She said that yoga is a sport that helps to strengthen the person physically and psychologically and gives positive thinking by enhancing confidence.

 

In turn, the trainer Rabie Al-Jabai said that yoga achieves peace, harmony between the body, mind and soul, and thus is a way of life.

Coach Hana A’rab pointed out that the culture of yoga is witnessing great interest among the Syrians as it constitutes principles, morals and breathing exercises and can be practiced at home or anywhere, and there is no need to provide large spaces for its practice.
