Depending on national expertise and Syrian technicians, W.D.R.V.M company for Renewable Energy and Heavy Industries has managed to manufacture, assemble, install and operate the first wind turbine in Syria, Middle East, the Arab Gulf and North Africa in the Industrial Zone in Hsaya’ in Homs Countryside.
The Syrian experts, technicians and workers managed to overcome all the obstacles facing them including the unilateral economic sanctions and the tight embargo being imposed on Syria and manufacture the turbine with all its constituents: the tower, the blades and the accurate control systems.
It was installed in al-Sendyana village to the west of Homs near Homs Tartous Highway. The executive manager in the company Rabee Elias told news reporter that the capacity of the turbine amounts to 2.5 Mega watt and it was equipped with up-to-date technology, adding that it provided the electrical network with more than 150 Mega Watt.
He said that preparations are under way for installing the second turbine which will have the same capacity, noting that the environmentally-friend turbine can light 3000 to 5000 houses, and it gained all international certificates including the ISO.
Elias went on to say that installing 1500 wind turbines will save 700 to 1000 billion Syrian pounds of fuel and gas cost and they can ensure lighting for 18 million people, pointing out that there is a possibility of manufacturing 80 to 100 turbines annually.
He concluded that that the offers presented from several nearby states to the company to export turbines to them is considered a great success for local Syrian Industry.
In turn, Director of the Control System in the Company said that the turbine works according to an integrated control system that was adopted at the international level.
