The film “Joseph’s Journey” wins the golden award for best film at the Salento International Film Festival in Italy
The Syrian feature film “Joseph’s Journey”, directed by Joud Saeed won the gold award for the best film category at the Salento International Film Festival in its 20th edition in Italy.
The film was produced by the National Film Organization and directed by Joud Saeed who co-wrote the script with Wissam Kanaan. It stars Ayman Zidan and a group of Syrian actors including Ruba Al-Halabi, Samer Omran, Serena Muhammad, Wael Zidan, Wael Abu Shaar, Jawad Al-Saeed, Ahmed Al-Darwish and Hayyan Baddour.
The film depicts the journey of a grandfather carrying his grandson in search of a lost hope for a better life. The work revolves around Joseph’s family which still lives in Syria despite all the devastation, but at some point, they will be forced to flee the country and take refuge in one of the camps near Lebanon, waiting for a better opportunity to win life and love.
It is noteworthy that the film was first screened at Cairo Festival and won the screenplay award at Casablanca Arab Film Festival. It won the best screenplay award in the Feature Narrative Film Competition in the 4th season of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival. The film also participated in the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, which was held at the beginning of this month. On the 19 of this month, the film won the Gold Award at the eighth Toronto International Film Festival in Italy.
Next month, the film “Joseph’s Journey” will be screened at the Brussels Arab Film Festival, in Barcelona and in France.
