Damascus (ST) – As part of the National Environment Day activities that started at the beginning of this month, the Environment Directorate in Damascus Governorate opened the Environmental Club Park in the East Al-Tijara neighborhood, after the rehabilitation works were completed
Following a tour of the park, Damascus Governor Eng. Mohammad Tariq Krishati stated that the governorate took it upon itself to organize a series of events on the occasion of National Environment Day, which included, in addition to the park’s opening, cleaning and grassing campaigns, agricultural works, and events to spread environmental awareness and culture in society.
In turn, the Director of Damascus Parks, Engineer Somar Farfour, indicated that the governorate is providing all the capabilities and redoubling efforts to restore the vegetation cover to what it was in the past, because these parks are the lungs of the city and its civilized appearance reflects its beauty.
For her part, the supervisor of the Young Environmentalists Club and the recycling team, Mervat Haj Ali, stressed that their work included teaching children sound environmental behavior, holding educational courses to recycle damaged materials, and making use of environmental waste to obtain useful forms that enhance the sound environmental concept for children.
