The completion of preparations for the reopening of Damascus International Airport on the first of next October
The Damascus International Airport administration has completed all the preparations and procedures required for the gradual opening of the airport, which is scheduled for the first of next October.
According to the Director of Airport Eng. Nidal Mohammed, the preparations included the various stages of work from the moment the aircraft arrived and took off, in order to achieve ease of procedures related to passengers and to fulfill the requirements of the Ministry of Health protocol and the instructions of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Eng. Mohammad stressed the airport’s keenness to implement all local and international recommendations to ensure safe travel for travelers.
Eng. Mohammed indicated that the concerned authorities at the airport have taken all operating measures, including checking the test document for detecting the Corona virus with a validity period of 96 hours, developing self-sterilizing devices for passengers and bags, thermometers, increasing cleaning and sterilization periods around the clock, and placing ground signs to achieve spatial spacing, indicative panels and guidance increase the number of immigration and passports policemen and secure their work requirements quickly and smoothly, with the opening of nine windows for the Syrian Commercial Bank.
Qassem Muhammad, a civil aviation worker, explained that his work is based on conducting a complete sterilization process for all bags entering the airport.
In turn, worker Razen Walid Yassin explained that sterilization and safety procedures include the passenger, the employee and the workers.
Eng. Maymoun Abdel-Rahim, Assistant Director General of the Syrian Airlines Corporation, indicated that in preparation for the reopening of the airport to the passengers, a scanner was installed for the results of the PCR examination related to determining the infection with the virus that every traveler carries, whether coming or leaving any other airport, in order to ensure the correctness of the result.
Shaker Qalumi from the Health Center at the Airport said that the temperature of all arrivals is measured through a scanner that carries a thermal camera attached to a screen that gives the temperature of more than one passenger at the same time, and after that the passengers whose temperature is normal go to the medical point to make sure the validity of the PCR examination document.
