The book “Myths of the East, Creation-Immortality” presents a comprehensive study on the history of myths
Researcher Eid Al-Darwish seeks to present , through his recent published book “Myths of the East, Creation-Immortality”, a comprehensive idea about the myth that the peoples of the East exported to the entire world and had the most prominent role in the emergence and spread of this kind of literature.
Al-Darwish reviews in his book major epics originating from the East, such as the legend of Gilgamesh, Mesopotamian myths, the legend of the Babylonian formation, the myth of Ugaritic Akhas, the myths of China, Japan and India concerning creation and immortality, as well as the myths of the Pharaohs and the book of the Dead, which included the teachings that a person must memorize before his death.
Al-Darwish approached in his book the method of research, investigation and analysis by studying these myths that have led us throughout history to reach important life and intellectual issues in human life and its transformations.
He depended on the philosophy of human thinking in which all aspects of life are mixed with the story of creation and immortality that has accompanied human thought since the beginning of human knowledge and the formation of awareness and the diversity of cultures.
In the book, Al-Darwish believed that myth is the essence of human thought on which knowledge and science depend, after it embodied the details of human’s life to enhance the mind’s ability to experiment and discover.
The author asserted that every trace made by the ancient man stemmed from his thinking and perceptions on which he based ideological and intellectual matrixes and life rituals. All Sculpting, writing, pictures, statues and inscriptions that were found at homes and temples integrate with the human’s view of life in every time and place.
The research in the field of myth, according to what was mentioned in the book, leads us to the connection between legacies, rituals, religions so the myth had an important role in the lives of peoples but the religions limited its exaggerations.
The 161- page book issued by “Tutol” House for printing, publishing and distribution, documented multiple historical stages in a manner that focused on document, analysis, moral and methodological compatibility, and intellectual exchange, leading to the civilizations, knowledge and visions that man presented.
It is noteworthy that the author of the book researcher Eid Al-Darwish, was born in Raqqa in 1963. He holds a degree in philosophy and psychology. He has many articles in local and Arab newspapers and published five books in the field of philosophical and intellectual studies, including “Imam Al-Ghazali between reason and transmission” and the philosophy of Sufism in religions”.
