Around 100 male and female creative students representing different governorates, who excelled academically in the basic education stage,  participate in the various activities of the 1st  National Camp for Creative Students, which is currently being held by the Revolutionary Youth Union in  Zabadani area in Damascus countryside.

The five-day camp aims to enhance self-confidence, stimulate Initiative and creativity among youth, and direct their energies towards production and giving. It also aims to create creative youth who are able to change and influence society, as well as to make them aware of their rights and duties, according to the camp’s leader, Khaled Al-Khaled.

Al-Khaled stressed that the camp instills the value of responsibility and enhances the love of the homeland in the spirit of young people. It also helps guide them to carry out initiatives in cooperation with local community in a way that enables them to transfer this experience to their families and the surrounding community through the ideas and proposals that are applied within the initiative.

He pointed out that the camp includes a variety of other activities, including participating in recreational activities outside the camp to learn about the tourist attractions of Zabadani region, in addition to activities that enhance life skills through mini-workshops held within the camp in various fields.

A number of participants found that the camp is a space to show their talents and creativity and an opportunity to benefit from each other’s experiences, stressing that the camp’s diverse program motivates them to elicit more creativity and will have a very important role in supporting their personalities.

They believe in the importance of the camp in terms of giving them an idea about the ways that help them direct their energies and creativity, and what young people of this age can offer to their country, especially since they consider the camp as an incubator for creativity.

According to Rasha Nikar, one of the camp supervisors, the supervisors’ tasks are to train young people, develop their talents, as well as guide young people, support their creativity, and enhance their spirit of belonging and citizenship since the camp is a microcosm of Syria that gathers young people from different governorates.
