“Terrorism is the greatest crime of the Age ” a New Book Provides Strategic Features to Combat Extremism
The Researcher Hussien Ragheb dealt in his book “ Terrorism is the Greatest Crime of the Age”, which comes in the form of applied research, with the structure of terrorism that is based on a culture in contrast to human logic and ethics , international laws and the rejection of the others’ rights in life.
The writer Ragheb believed in his book that terrorism has become the most dangerous issue threatening human existence, and it is the product of sick thinking, vicious beliefs and abnormal practices that arose in backward societies which allow themselves to loot peoples and deny their rights and existence.
He stressed in his book the necessity of raising awareness about the importance of protecting individuals by human means , not to submit to any thought that would harm the others . Combating terrorism necessitates cooperation, respect and appreciation of the others.
In the book, the researcher Ragheb explained that the technological development in the means of communication resulting from globalization is a key feature in the transformations of terrorist organizations during the past decades in terms of producing new types of terrorists who are able to organize crimes in the information and communication system. This calls for addressing this dangerous phenomenon.
The book included six chapters, the first of which focused on the concept of the phenomenon of terrorism, the historical development of terrorism its characteristics, and its most important types , while the second chapter dealt with the concept of state terrorism and its most prominent examples including the Zionist and American terrorism.
The third chapter shed light on reasons and characteristics of extremist and Takfiri groups as well as the most dangerous extremists movements including the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, ISIS and Daesh in addition to other movements supported by the British, American and Zionist intelligence services.
The book’s fourth chapter considered terrorism as an international crime such as genocide, aggression and terrorism in light of international agreements, and the distinction between terrorism, armed struggle and mercenaries.
As for the fifth chapter, it reviewed terrorism in Syria, the Syrian laws , which were issued to confront it, and the brutal crimes carried out against the Syrian people.
In the final chapter, the author presented proposals for a multi-level strategy to combat terrorism, distributed between religious discourse , educational, moral, social, cultural and media fields .
The 295-page book was issued by Dar Al-Shaab for Spreading Human Sciences.
It is noteworthy to mention that the researcher Hussien Al-Ragheb is a member at the Arab Writers Union and the Permanent Committee for combating Zionist Cultural Invasion and the Arab General History Writing Commission.
