Damascus (ST): The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, discussed with the head of the mission of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Syria Sivanka Dhanapala ways to enhance cooperation and educational relations.
During a meeting held at the Ministry of Education building, Minister Tabbaa affirmed the government’s keenness on the interest of all Syrians inside and outside Syria in facilitating the procedures for applying for general exams and conducting an assessment test for transitional classes, pointing to the measures taken by the Ministry in cooperation with UNICEF to attract students who have dropped out of schools through the Class B curriculum and self-learning.
Minister Tabbaa referred to the increase in the number of students and its impact on the increased needs, especially the restoration of schools.
In turn, Dhanapala spoke about the role of the Commission in restoring schools in Syria, working according to programs to support children with learning difficulties and disabilities, compensatory lessons, capacity-building, and contributing to the program of hosting immigrants from areas where armed terrorist organizations are present to take their exams in public certificates, stressing the importance of the educational sector.
