Syrian musician Hagop Kanuzi wins third place in the International Association Music Gloria Artis Competition in Austria

Vienna (ST) – Syrian academic musician Hagop Kanuzi has won third place in the Fourth International Music Competition Gloria Artis in the Austrian capital, Vienna, in the professional category for solo piano playing.

Kanuzi expressed his happiness for winning this award as it is the culmination of continuous and ongoing work and training, indicating that professional competition with musicians from around the world has additional value for him in terms of challenge and determination in proving the ability of Syrian academic talents to achieve important positions in international competitions, despite the current difficult circumstances in Syria.

It is noteworthy that the pianist Hagop Knouzi, a piano teacher at the Higher Institute of Music, was born in Damascus in 1997. He began studying music at the Salhi al-Wadi Institute in 2004 under the supervision of Professor Jack Momjian and he graduated from the institute in 2013 under the supervision of the Russian expert Vladimir Zaretsky.

He continued his studies at the Higher Institute of Music in 2014 with musician Ola Qarjouli and graduated from it in 2020 under the supervision of Russian expert Victoria Snobar. He also studied performing arts with Dr. Ghazwan Zirkli.
Kanuzi participated in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra as a soloist, performing the First Tchaikovsky Concerto in 2023 led by Maestro Misak Baghboudrian, and won the Grand Prize in the Ninth International Competition for Soloists in Moscow 2023.
