Abu Dhabi, (ST) – The Syrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi celebrated the 77th Anniversary of Evacuation Day at the headquarters of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. This came at the generous initiative of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Ghassan Abbas, the Acting Chargé d’Affairs at the Syrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi emphasized in his speech the importance of the evacuation anniversary, noting that the Evacuation is part of the confidence of the Syrians and the Arab peoples in their abilities to achieve legitimate national goals and formulate a national identity.
Ambassador Abbas praised the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army and the people. He expressed thanked the countries that stood by Syria in its war against terrorism and unilateral coercive measures.
Abbas pointed to the distinguished humanitarian and relief efforts of the United Arab Emirates to assist the Syrian people after the earthquake that struck Syria, in confirmation of the continuation of the humanitarian approach that was laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He expressed the appreciation of the Syrian government and people for these tremendous humanitarian efforts.
In a related context and in solidarity with Syria on this national occasion, the United Arab Emirates lit up Burj Khalifa in the center of Dubai with the colors of the Syrian national flag.
Syrian community in Oman holds a celebration on the occasion of the Evacuation Day
On the other hand in Muscat, the Syrian community in the Sultanate of Oman celebrated the seventy-seventh anniversary of the Evacuation Day at the embassy in Muscat.
Syria’s ambassador to Muscat, Dr. Idris Mia affirmed during a speech that Syria has always been defiant against invaders and colonizers throughout its long history thanks to the struggle of its sons and the blood of its righteous martyrs.
Ambassador Mia pointed out that Syria has always been keen to do everything that would strengthen Arab solidarity and establish the best relations with all brothers and friends.
Mia pointed out the importance of solidarity among all members of the community, and for them to be one hand and present a bright image of their homeland, Syria in the Sultanate of Oman. He stressed the importance of everyone’s participation in the reconstruction of what terrorism destroyed in Syria.
Some members of the community also delivered speeches and poems glorifying this great occasion. A short documentary film about Syria was shown during the celebration, in addition to a photo exhibition on the most important tourist areas in all Syrian governorates.
