Syrian and Iranian delegations hold consultations in preparation for the quadrilateral meeting in Moscow

Moscow, (ST) – Talks between the Syrian delegation, led by Ayman Sousan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and the Iranian delegation, led by Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, began on Monday at the headquarters of Syrian Embassy in Moscow.

Syrian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Bashar Al-Jaafari attended the talks.

The two sides discussed aspects related to the quadrilateral meeting of the assistant foreign ministers of Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey, in light of the joint coordination between the two sides.

Views were identical on emphasizing the need to respect for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and ending the illegal Turkish presence on Syrian territory.

The meeting was attended by members of the Syrian and Iranian delegations.

Sousan arrived in Moscow yesterday to take part in the in the quadrilateral meeting of the assistant foreign ministers of Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey.

In response to a question by representative of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) Sousan indicated that the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic will hold bilateral consultations with the Russian and Iranian sides on April 3, and on the next day, April 4;  the delegation will participate in the quartet meeting.

Sousan added that the delegation will focus specifically on ending the Turkish military presence on Syrian territory, combating terrorism, and non-interference in the Syrian internal affairs.
