Syria warns that continued disregard of Israeli occupation for international laws may ignite region

Syria warned that the continued disregard of the Israeli occupation entity for the international laws, and its failure to comply with the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, and the calls of member states to stop its attacks and massacres may lead to igniting the entire region, and threatening regional and international peace and security. Syria also stressed that these attacks will not deter the people of the region from adhering to their national choices and their struggle to liberate their occupied lands in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
Permanent Representative Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak delivered Syria’s speech during a Security Council session on Wednesday on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
The following is the full speech of Syria:
The events of the past few days show that the war criminals in the Israeli occupation entity have decided to continue their bloody attacks to ignite the region and plunge it into a large-scale war, benefiting from unlimited American support at the expense of international peace and security and the lives and blood of innocents.
A few days ago, the Israeli occupation entity committed a new heinous crime represented by its treacherous aggression on the town of Majdal Shams in the Syrian Golan occupied since 1967, which resulted in the martyrdom of 12 Syrian children and the injury of a number of Syrian civilians.
The occupation authorities sought to hold the Lebanese national resistance responsible for this sinful attack in a failed attempt to cover up this heinous crime and find pretexts to launch more acts of aggression against the countries of the region.
Syria rejects the lies contained in the letter addressed by the so-called Foreign Minister of the Israeli entity to the President of the Security Council and the Secretary-General on July 29. Syria also affirms that the occupied Syrian Arab Golan was and still is Syrian territory, which is what all relevant UN resolutions have confirmed, most notably Resolution No. 497 of 1981.
Syria stresses that our people in the Golan are Syrian Arab citizens who were, still are, and will remain an integral part of the Syrian people. They are committed to their belonging to their homeland Syria and their national identity. They reject the Israeli occupation and look forward to put an end to its criminal practices against them, which was confirmed once again by their expulsion of the Israeli war criminals who tried to trade in the blood of our children in Majdal Shams following the aggression.
Syria affirms the responsibility of the Israeli occupation for the heinous crime witnessed in the town of Majdal Shams, which “Israel” has exploited to continue its attacks on the countries of the region.
Syria reiterates that no occupying entity has the right to exercise the right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, as confirmed by the International Court of Justice.
No sane person can believe the claims of the occupation authorities to defend the people of the occupied Arab territories while they commit the most heinous violations against them.
In this context, Syria reiterates its rejection and condemnation of the American statements that justify the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan under the pretext of its importance to the security of “Israel”. It stresses that preserving international peace and security requires the American administrations to abandon their destructive policies and stop preventing the Security Council from fulfilling its mandate in accordance with the Charter.
The Zionist entity committed a new crime and terrorist aggression in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Wednesday dawn, which led to the martyrdom of the head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Ismail Haniyeh.
This assassination reflects the mentality of the occupation, and represents the Israeli response to the so-called “Biden Plan” that was included in  UNSC Resolution No. 2735 submitted by the American delegation.
This was preceded by another terrorist attack by the Israeli occupation entity that targeted a residential building in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut, which resulted in the death of a number of martyrs, including a woman and two children, and the injury of dozens of civilians from this densely populated neighborhood.
Syria condemns the Israeli attacks on its lands, and on the sovereignty of Iran, Lebanon and other countries in the region, and expresses its full solidarity with these countries in the face of the Israeli attacks to which they are exposed.
Syria warns that the continued disregard of international laws by the Israeli entity, and its failure to comply with the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, and the calls of the member states to stop its massacres may lead to igniting the entire region, and threatening regional and international peace and security.
In conjunction with the Israeli attacks on the countries of the region, the suffering of our people in Gaza Strip continues as a result of the Israeli entity’s persistence in committing crimes for ten months, which did not leave a home, hospital, school, child, woman, humanitarian worker, medical staff, or media correspondent without targeting it.
The Israeli war criminals would not have persisted in committing war crimes and crimes against humanity without the unlimited American support, hypocrisy, and double standards practiced by some Western countries that engaged in “Israel’s” war on the Palestinian people, and remained silent about demanding accountability for the Israeli war criminals for their crimes, but rather opened their doors to them and met them with applause and cheers.
Syria demands that the Security Council assume its primary responsibilities in condemning the repeated Israeli attacks and taking immediate action to put an end to them, prevent their recurrence, hold their perpetrators accountable, and ensure that they do not escape punishment.
Syria stresses that these attacks will not deter the people of the region from adhering to their national choices and their struggle to liberate their occupied land in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among which are resolutions 242, 338, and 497.
