Vienna (ST) – Syria has once again condemned in the strongest terms the repeated Israeli acts of aggression on its territory, which clearly violates international resolutions and covenants and poses a threat to international peace and security, as the world has recently witnessed the shameful use of modern technologies by Israel as a deadly tool for further killing and destruction.
Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Vienna Hassan Khaddour said in a statement before the 12th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its annexed protocols: “We condemn the continued Israeli occupation aggression against the Palestinian people, the illegal and inhumane siege on the Gaza Strip, and its commission of crimes of genocide and forced displacement against the Palestinians in clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and the decisions of the International Court of Justice and other relevant international resolutions.”
“The Syrian Arab Republic also condemns the continuous barbaric Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which has led to the destruction of infrastructure and the displacement or killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians”, he added.
Ambassador Khaddour stressed that Syria participates in international conferences and meetings organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and has been involved in the process of reviewing the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its protocols since its inception, and has participated in the work of the committee dedicated to developing an international convention to combat cybercrime.
“I hope that this conference will achieve the goals that the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime and its protocols were established to achieve, and Syria is open to everything that contributes to achieving this”, He added.
