Syria, Sudan to boost agriculture cooperation

Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Mohamed Hassan Qatana and the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Syria Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Hassan on Sunday discussed boosting agricultural cooperation and activating and developing the signed agreements, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

Qatana stressed the importance of developing relations between Syria and Sudan, especially in the agriculture field, which is the basis for achieving food security, and the need for activating the signed agreements and updating them to suit the next stage, in addition to exchanging the agriculture products and overcoming all difficulties that hinder shipping operations.

The minister noted the importance of economic agriculture that achieves sustainable development, not consuming water and natural resources, and amending the plant production plans on this basis.

For his part, the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of Sudan said that Sudan has large areas suitable for diverse agriculture, in addition to the diversity of livestock, noting the importance of developing the signed agreements to serve the interests of the two countries.
