Syria, Russia discuss cultural cooperation, the restoration of the Arch of Triumph in Palmyra

Damascus,(ST)- Minister of Culture Lubanah Mushaweh discussed with the Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Yefimov cultural cooperation between the two countries and the details related to the project to rebuild and restore the Arch of Triumph in the city of Palmyra.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Culture building, Mushaweh stressed the importance of the project for the two countries and the necessity of overcoming all difficulties that hinder the speed of implementation. She highly appreciated the current scientific and artistic cooperation between the two sides in this field.

For his part, the Russian ambassador stressed the importance of the project from the cultural and political aspects and the keenness of both parties to save this historical edifice using the latest scientific methods and approaches.

During the meeting, which was held in the presence of representatives of the Syria Trust for Development and the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, the two sides agreed on the need to hold a joint meeting in the presence of Russian and Syrian experts to agree on the work methodology and the timetable for the next stage.
